    We have released new research in collaboration with the University of New South Wales which has revealed the median total cost for people living with macular disease, who also receive sight-saving eye injections, is 12 percent* ($3,621) of the annual government pension payment.

    New treatment for Geographic Atrophy

    The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval of the new eye injection treatment pegcetacoplan (SYFOVRE®) is welcome news, as it will give many people with Geographic Atrophy a treatment option that they’ve never had before to slow the progression of the disease.

    New $100,000 research grant launched to support people with macular disease in regional and rural Australia 

    The launch of the new Elisabeth Macdonald Memorial Award coincides with World Sight Day (9 October 2025) and marks the beginning of MDFA’s 25th anniversary year.
